Finish Strong.
Fight the Good Fight, Finish the Race, Keep the Faith
- 2 Timothy 4:7
Hello Saints! Can you believe that we’re already in December, or the last month of 2020? As I saw on an Instagram story earlier today, the calendar this year seems to have gone something like this:
January → February → Quarantine → December
Yesterday, I found myself wondering, where did the time go? If you’re anything like me, when you first noticed that yesterday was the first day of the last month in the year, you probably took an immediate trip down memory lane; potentially reminiscing on the good, the bad and the ugly, of 2020. For many of us, we probably thought about many of the negative impacts that this unforeseen pandemic has caused and how we cannot wait to start all over in January 2021. While I can admit I was of the same mindset, I was quickly reminded by The Holy Spirit that there is still a month of the year that is too valuable to be forfeited.
I was reminded of the Scripture in Job 14:1 NIV which states “man, who is born of a woman, is of few days and full of troubles.” While it’s never a pleasant experience going through troubling and unpleasant situations, God is reminding us today through this scripture, that those days are actually very few. The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 7:8 NLT, that “finishing is better than starting.” No matter how bad this crazy year has been for you, please fight the urge to look past December and wait until January of next year. Remember that you’ve gotten this far into what is probably the most difficult and unpredictable year of your life thus far. We owe it to ourselves to finish strong!
I still trust that God will come through for you because one thing I know about God is that He crowns the years with His goodness (Psalm 65:11 NKJV). Like a true marathon runner, let’s give it our all this month and make sure we leave nothing reserved! Then, and only then, can we say with Apostle Paul in 2 Timothy 4:7 NIV that “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith!
Shalom.
